Do all that you do with love~

Dear Families,

Melbourne certainly put us through our paces with the weather over the long weekend. I hope it didn't put a stop to any family plans you made. It was nice to have an extra day to pause and recharge the batteries as we prepare to hit the halfway point of this term.

I think last Friday was the busiest day on our school calendar yet! Our Foundation students visited the Moonlit Sanctuary in Pearcedale, learning about some of the amazing mammals, reptiles, and birds that call Australia home. They got to see the new dingo puppies, sniff koala poo, stroke a skink and a leaf insect, as well as try to feed the wallabies and kangaroos. Sadly, by the time it was their turn to do the Wallaby Walk, many of them were feeling a little overfed and sleepy — but you have to give the children credit for being so patient. The rain did hold off, and a very tired group of Preps returned to school having had a wonderful day!

The Grade One and Two students were visited by the team from Mad About Science and our hall was turned into a scientific laboratory. Lots of hands on investigations were explored by the children and it looks like they had so much fun.

Congratulations to Miss Baillie and a group of our student leaders who visited St Peter's on Friday for a very special celebration. St Therese's was one of the first DOSCEL schools to be commissioned as a FIRE Carrier school and our students are now FIRE Carriers.

For those of you who don't know, FIRE means Friends Igniting Reconciliation through Education and the aim of the initiative is to promote respect, inclusion and fairness for Aboriginal people. The student leaders have been working hard to prepare our school covenant, our promise to highlight reconciliation, as well as writing an Acknowledgement of Country especially for our school. This work also supports us in meeting Child Safe Standard 1- to establish a culturally safe environment in which the diverse and unique identities and experiences of Aboriginal children and young people are respected and valued.

End of Year Arrangements

We know that some families are leaving us at the end of school year as their children move onto high school, other families have already notified us that they have moved or are moving house and will not be returning to St Therese's in 2026. If your child is in Foundation to grade Five and you are enrolling in a different school for 2026, could you please email the school to let us know.
