Message from the Principal

This week has been a particularly meaningful one — both personally and for our school community.

Our Year 12 students commenced their external exams, marking the culmination of their schooling journey and a time of focus, determination, and pride. As a school, we have been deliberate in creating the best possible environment to support our students’ success. This has included removing the school bells during lessons to ensure a calm, uninterrupted atmosphere for concentration.

What has stood out most has been the response from our students across all year levels — they have shown maturity, respect, and genuine care for their peers in Year 12. Each day, they have moved to class independently, maintaining their routines and demonstrating the values that make our school community so strong. It’s moments like these that truly highlight the culture of belonging and respect that defines our school.

As the term continues, we look forward to more celebrations and milestones, particularly as we move into the final weeks of planning and preparation for our Year 12 Graduation Ceremony — a special event to honour the achievements, growth, and contribution of our senior students.

This week also marked a personal milestone for me — 20 years of service in the Queensland state education system. From being a proud state school student, to teacher, and now Principal, I remain deeply inspired by the opportunity to lead and serve in public education.

I was also honoured to be invited to take part in a Vlog discussion with Dr Anne Knock, Director of Strategy & Culture and Director of Learning Environment Design at The Learning Future Australia. This conversation offered a valuable opportunity to reflect on our school’s ongoing commitment to transforming learning environments — reimagining the use of space, furniture, and design to foster engagement, collaboration, and creativity for our students.

As always, thank you for your continued support of our students, staff, and school community. I look forward to celebrating more of the moments that make our school such a wonderful place to learn, grow, and belong.

Regards,

Timothy Barraud
