Learning & Teaching
“Step Up 25” and Senior Holiday Home Learning
The “Step Up 25 Program” is underway and continues until Tuesday 3 December. Students have been applying themselves conscientiously to take advantage of the head start provided.
Teachers report that good progress is being made and that students have been engaging well with their new learning experiences. The rationale for the program is to align the whole school, given that the senior students have, for many years, commenced their next years program at the end of the previous years. All teachers and students are able to finish the year productively, most importantly, developing new skills and capabilities, ensuring a smooth start to the 2025 academic year.
All students are expected to attend the full "Step Up 25 Program"
For Year 11 and 12 students, holiday home learning tasks will be set in all subjects and these can be accessed through SEQTA Learn and Engage. It is essential that all students complete these tasks, including the reading ofEnglish novels, before their first classes in 2025. As indicated in the VCE and VCE - VM Expectations Letters, sent to all families and students via Operoo, this is a non-negotiable requirement and failure to complete set tasks will result in an interview with the Senior Certificates Panel. It is also essential that all students and parents/guardians sign the VCE or VCE - VM expectations response form by Thursday 28 November.
Semester Reports and Academic Achievement
With 2024 assessments completed, staff are finalising the Semester 2 Reports. These should be available for students in Years 7 to 11, 2024, on the SEQTA Engage Parent Portal on Friday 6 December. Please take the time to read over these reports carefully and discuss them with your daughter. This information should be used to recognise progress, and achievement, identify areas for improvement and set goals for 2025.
Follow-up academic performance interviews will be scheduled for students who have performed unsatisfactorily in multiple subjects or examinations. These interviews will enable us to collaboratively review the student’s pathway andformulate strategies for improvement. We will also use the information in these reports to identify students who haveexcelled academically and demonstrated exemplary learning behaviours. Academic Excellence and Marian LearnerCertificates will be presented at assemblies early in 2025.
