Performing Arts Update – Term 4

What a fabulous term it has been for our performing arts students! We started Term 4 with a bang, showcasing our talents at the Art Show opening, where students sang beautifully and brought the event to life with their energetic performance.

It was a memorable evening that highlighted the incredible hard work and dedication of our young performers.

With the festive season approaching, our focus has turned to the joy and spirit of Christmas. Students are busily learning a delightful selection of Christmas carols, bringing energy and heart to their singing. Their beautiful harmonies and vibrant enthusiasm are sure to brighten end-of-year celebrations.

In our drama lessons, warm-up games have been a big hit! Prep to Grade 2 students adore playing Fruit Salad Freeze, where they use their imaginations to transform into pineapples, bananas, or the ever-popular "Super Potato". The giggles and creativity during this game are infectious! Meanwhile, Grades 3 to 6 students have been sharpening their focus and teamwork with Zip Zop Zap, a fast-paced traditional drama game that we’ve made even more challenging and exciting by adding a rhythmical beat.

The main focus of our lessons has been on developing improvised dramatic works. Students across all year levels are exploring storytelling, character creation, and creative collaboration. Through improvisation, they are learning to think on their feet, build confidence in performing, and craft entertaining scenes in real time. Watching their unique ideas come to life has been a highlight of the term. It’s been wonderful to see their creativity shine as they develop their ideas into engaging, unscripted scenes.

Our students’ enthusiasm, creativity, and growing skills are a joy to witness, and I am excited to see all they will achieve as we wrap up the year with festive spirit and dramatic flair!
