STAGE 2 NEWS:

And just like that, 2024 is coming to a close. What a wonderful year of learning and growing we have had in Stage 2!  The work has not stopped yet though!  We are still hard at work in the Wombats and the Bilbies.

In Maths, we have been investigating angles and 2D shapes, using environmental examples (such as maps and our own school playground) to show different shapes and angles.  In Weeks 6 and 7, we were investigating chance and data, and showing our amazing technology skills as we created graphs using Excel.  We completed chance experiments, made predictions, and investigated events that are affected by previous events, and those that are not.

In English, we are working on persuasive texts; learning how to hook our readers in, how to write using high modality language, and how to convince someone of our opinion. Stage 2 are loving learning how to more effectively argue their points (!).

Stage 2 have been working hard on their Drama performances.  We have taken well known stories, including Dreaming stories and fairy tales, adapted them and are rehearsing to perform them in Week 9.  We certainly have some talented actors and actresses!

In PE, after doing European Handball and Ultimate Frisbee with Mrs Townsend and Mrs Bull, the Wombats have moved onto Dance with Miss Randall, learning some classic dances like the Nutbush, the Macarena and Boot Scootin’ Baby.  The Bilbies are working on their Circus skills with Miss Landow, learning how to juggle, hula hoop and put on a show!

As we finish up the year, we would like to say a huge THANKYOU! to our Stage 2 students and families.  We wish you a safe and happy holiday season, and hope you all return to MGPS in 2025 well rested and ready to learn. Good luck for 2025, Stage 2, you are stars!!
