Cricket
St Patrick’s began their innings with a strong start, as Luke Hill and Will Allen established a competitive partnership despite challenging bowling and fielding conditions. However, the middle order faced a tough period, with St Augustine’s delivering an impressive display of bowling and fielding to apply pressure.
After lunch, an early wicket by St Patrick’s bowlers boosted the team's confidence, but St Augustine’s responded with outstanding batting performances, tightening the contest. The match came down to the final ball, with St Augustine’s needing just one run to win—a nail-biting finish that ultimately saw St Patrick’s narrowly defeated by a formidable opponent.
Across the grounds, results were mixed in closely contested fixtures. The 16 Gold Team put up a strong batting effort, compiling a significant total, but fell short in a high-scoring encounter.
Basketball
Many of our teams faced formidable opposition in their basketball matches against Oakhill College. Many games unfolded as battles of two halves, with St Patrick's taking some time to find their rhythm but delivering high-quality basketball and resilience in the second half to stay competitive.
One of the standout fixtures of the weekend was the 14A Team's performance. They showcased their immense talent and competitiveness, delivering a strong and determined display, only to narrowly miss out on victory in the final moments of the game. The First V match was equally as thrilling, with momentum shifting between quarters. SPC players stepped up with an impressive scoring display, making it a tightly contested affair throughout but in the end went down 71 to 84.
Congratulations to the teams that secured victories across the grounds, including several encouraging results in away fixtures. The weekend's performances reflected both the challenges and the potential of the St Patrick's basketball teams. Well done to all involved!
Baseball
The First IX Baseball Team secured an impressive victory, showcasing their skill and teamwork, while the U16 team faced tough opposition and unfortunately came up short against very strong competition.
This is the last week of fixtures for the year! Thank you to everyone for their hard work and dedication.
