Putting on a Performance

Year 10 Script and Performance

A few weeks ago, we were lucky enough to have Australian actor and singer, Rob Mills come into our class to help us workshop our play.

He began the lesson talking about his journey in his career, starting from the lead role in his high school musical to playing Fiyero in the original Australian production of ‘Wicked’.

Giving us valuable lessons on acting and performing, he also talked us through the process of creating a play and performing. We then rehearsed our class play as Rob gave us notes and tips on acting skills. He provided us with important knowledge on characterisation and blocking and all the strong elements of theatre. Each of us learnt a lot more about performing and he boosted our confidence to make a funny, entertaining production.

Some great things to take away from having him in our class was hearing about the ups and downs of being an actor, he highlighted some of his struggles in the industry and talked us through auditioning and dealing with rejection. This gave us a different perspective on acting as a whole and allowed us to think more freely when acting and allowed us to experiment more.

Rob's workshop helped us learn so much and we can’t wait for him to see the final performance that came out of his helpful guidance.
