From the Principal
End of year celebrations!
It is hard to believe that the school year is rapidly coming to a close.
A colleague reminded me recently that it is important to enjoy the moment, soak it all in and celebrate what is the very best of GSG.
In the coming weeks, we have some important events and I would like to extend a warm invitation to all members of our community to attend and celebrate a year of wonderful achievements.
I would like to draw your attention to the following:
Today we farewell students and staff attending the 2024 Japan trip. We trust all involved will have a rich cultural and learning experience as they take part in educational activities.
The Year Nine Canberra trip and New York trip in 2025 are receiving much interest. These tours are wonderful learning experiences beyond the classroom that are enriching and raise global awareness.
Farewell to Mrs Marina Gordon
It is with mixed emotions that I inform you all of Mrs Marina Gordon's departure from our GSG family at the end of the school year.
Marina has been a teacher at GSG for the past 16 years, and while we are saddened to see her leave, we are also excited about the new opportunities that await her. Marina is moving to Bunbury to be closer to her daughter, who is expecting her first baby in February and has also taken up a position as a Year Four Teacher at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar.
Not only has Marina been a long-standing teacher at GSG, but she has also been the school's Pipe Band Manager since 2015. Her son Fraser (2015, Mokare) was a member of the Pipe Band and became Pipe Major in 2010. The role of Pipe Band Manager requires a great deal of attention to detail and dedication to assisting students prepare for their performances.
Marina, your dedication and passion for teaching have left an indelible mark on our Year Six students and the entire school community. Over the years, you have inspired countless young minds, fostering a love for learning and a sense of curiosity that will stay with them for a lifetime.
We will miss your presence and your warm interactions with students and families alike. Your ability to connect with each student and make them feel valued is a rare and cherished quality.
As you embark on this new chapter in your career, please know that you carry with you our deepest gratitude and best wishes.
Thank you for your years of service and dedication. You will always be a part of the Great Southern Grammar family.
Go well
