Dear parents and guardians,
We are now over half-way through the children's final term of primary school. They are a wonderful cohort of awesome young people and we are looking forward to working with them as they prepare to celebrate their primary school years.
For the next two weeks we will be completing our assessment process, it is essential that your child brings a charged laptop to school every day.
Scrapbooking
Starting next week, the students will embark on creating their Primary Years Scrapbook. They will write a short piece about each year of their schooling and include school photographs from each year. Students can create an album, a scrapbook or a digital album. Please sort through your albums with your child and print photos that they can bring to school. Albums and scrapbooks can be purchased at Officeworks, Big W and other department stores.
Graduation & Graduation PowerPoint
Graduation is Wednesday 11th of December. Students will come to school for activities in the morning, then go home to get changed. Everyone is invited to come back to school at 5pm for Red Carpet photos and the ceremony will follow. On the night, a PowerPoint will play with photos of each student in Foundation and Grade 6, as they are awarded their medal. An email was sent via Compass on Wednesday 13th November with details of what is required. Please upload your photos to the Dropbox link that was shared in the email.
Literacy
During weeks 5 and 6 we have been learning to use the skills of re-reading, inferring and reading for specific information. We have read a range of short exerts to learn these skills. In writing, we have now completed our two main Cold Writes. The students are working to complete a series of Big Writes to further showcase their skills as an author.
Maths
The last fortnight, our Year 6 students have been revising key topics from the semester. We’ve focused on area and perimeter, fractions, and even explored π. Students enjoyed hands-on activities to analyse the relationships between circumference, diameter, and radius by measuring various circles.
To support learning at home, here are some example activities to try with your child:

Additionally, mastering times tables is essential for improving automaticity in mathematics. There are many online resources to support practice, such as TopMarks, Mathletics, and Times Tables Games. Professor Di Siemon also offers excellent strategies for learning multiplication facts, which you can find here: Multiplication Strategies.
Happy learning!
Virtual Maths Games
Another congratulations goes to the following students for their achievements in the Virtual Maths Games competition.
Inquiry
The past fortnight, students have been campaigning for a cause to consolidate their understanding of democracy. We have commenced speeches to vote on how students will spend a portion of their profits from Market Day. We are excited to learn which campaign will receive the greatest support from a preferential vote.
Buddies
Our awesome Buddy Captains have planned some exciting activities for our fortnightly catch ups. This week we are interviewing our Buddies to learn a little more about them.
I sea, I care
On Wednesday, 6 of our Environment Captains when to the I sea, I care annual celebration at Ricketts Point. They participated in a series of workshops, including fossicking in the rockpools and learning tips on being more sustainable. Congratulations to the students involved. You were wonderful ambassadors for SEPS.
Homework
If you would like your child to complete work at home, you can complete the following:
Reading - it is important that students read for 20 minutes, most nights.
