Advent

Advent is a special season in the Christian calendar. It's a time for getting ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus at Christmas. This year, Advent starts on Sunday 1st December.

Week 1 - Hope

God, you give us hope. As we enter this season of Advent, we ask you to help us share hope with family and friends. Amen

Week 2 - Peace

Peaceful God, Show us your peace in the quiet moments of our days, in the clear blue sky, the birds and the animals and the smile of our friends.  May all in our human family who live with fighting, especially those in Ukraine and Russia, feel your peace.  Lead us to be people of peace in our homes, in our school and in our world. Amen

St Vincent de Paul Giving Tree

As we enter this year’s Advent season, OLA is delighted to host our annual Advent Giving Tree in partnership with our OLA branch of St Vincent de Paul. Each year, this initiative provides an opportunity for our community to spread joy in the spirit of giving.

The Advent Giving Tree supports children aged 0-17, ensuring they experience a special and memorable Christmas. Many of these children are teenagers, so gift cards (e.g., for music or shopping) are especially appreciated. We are also collecting Festive treats such as puddings, fruit mince pies, and biscuits, to contribute to the hampers St Vincent de Paul assembles for families in need.

If you’d like to participate, please consider:

  • Hanging a gift card on the Christmas tree located in the front office
  • Placing Festive treats under the tree

We kindly ask that all contributions are brought to the school by Thursday, 5 December.

Thank you for your generosity and support in making this Advent season a joyful time for all.
