ADVENT

This weekend is the second week of Advent, where we light the second candle on the Advent wreath. It is traditionally called the Peace Candle. It is a reminder that the Christ-child will bring peace to a troubled world. We need this now more than ever.

The Shepherd Candle, the third candle of Advent reflects the joy that comes through Jesus’ arrival and anticipation of Christmas. We light the pink candle to symbolize the joy we are waiting for.

The fourth candle on the Advent wreath is the Candle of Love

This candle symbolises Jesus's love and we are encouraged to share our love with others.

Four candles decorate the outer edges of the Advent wreath, and one white candle sits in the middle, the Christ candle. In the final week of Advent, churches will light all the candles and the white Christ candle in the centre of the wreath.

Advent God, Show us the way to be a light to all in need.

Help us to live and be God’s Dream of hope, peace, joy and love for all people.

As we wait and anticipate the birth of Jesus, come to us and fill our hearts with hope.

This we ask through Jesus Christ the light of the world.  Amen.

I look forward to seeing all our Sacred Heart families at the Christmas Carols Evening on the 16th of December.

Take Care,

Kate
