Dear Parents, Carers, Students, Staff and Friends of Derinya,

Book Week 

What a fantastic day was had last Friday. The children all looked spectacular dressed up as their favourite book characters celebrating and promoting a love of reading. Whilst assembly was a highlight, seeing our children engaged with a buddy class sharing their favourite stories was delightful. A reminder that research tells us that there is a direct correlation between the amount of words a child reads and their future success. We also know that as parents simply reading to our children daily is one of the best things we can do to support them with their learning.

Boys Netball

A huge congratulations to our year 6 boys netball team who won the Southern Metro Region Netball Competition. This talented group of students will be off to the finals next week and we wish them the very best of luck!

Excursions

Thank you to our teachers and parent helpers who attended both our prep and year 2 excursions to the Zoo and Coal Creek. The children had great days which connected strongly with the learning in the classroom. Well done to all on such successful excursions. 

Mobile Phones and Devices

A reminder that all mobile devices including smart watches must be handed in at the beginning of the day and collected at the end of the day. Teachers ensure these are stored securely. These devices should also not be accessed in the school yard before or after school. Your support with this is appreciated. 

Uniform

A reminder that correct school uniform is required at all times. Navy tracksuit pants, skirts or shorts are appropriate. Black or branded items are not considered school uniform. Make up is not permitted. The Derinya Basketball hoodies are also not part of our uniform.

Please take a moment to review the map below that clearly indicates processes and procedures in place for supporting traffic management.
