Be Awesome Day
The 3rd of November is Be Awesome Day. The Preps have chosen 3 stalls for us to run and one of them is a 'Count the Jellybean' competition. We are asking for donations of jelly beans to be able to fill 4 varying sized jars. Thank you to those who have already sent in a donation.
Pevan and Sarah Concert
On the 10th of October, we will heading to the Capital Theatre to see Pevan and Sarah in concert. Please provide consent and payment on Compass.
Maths
We have been learning to add small groups of numbers together. The strategy that we use at this stage is called 'counting on'. This means that we hold the biggest number in our head and 'count on' the next amount.
The Prep Team are on the search for a few copies of The Pocket Dogs by Margaret Wild. We are having trouble locating it in stores and wondered if any one might have a copy that they no longer use at home to donate to us.
Heart Words
Your child will have received a note stating which Heart Words that they need to practise reading and writing. By now, it is expected that students should be able to read and write almost all of these words. The holidays is a good chance to practise these. You can help them find the words in magazines, books or sign posts. They can practise writing the words in the sand or dirt outside or with water on the concrete.
Reading Comprehension
Please continue to focus on your childs understanding of the stories that they are reading over the holidays. When your child is reading to you, please make sure to ask the questions at the back of the book after the story has been read. There are additional comprehension questions in your child's reading log book (see below).
Spare underwear/pants
There are a lot of children who are having small toileting accidents at the moment. Please make sure that your child has a spare pair of underwear and pants in their bag at all times. We will have to call you to bring up a change of clothes if there are no spares.
