Engagement & Wellbeing

Friday, 3rd November will be our Be Awesome Day this year. Once again, our students will be running show stalls in a student-led ‘Show Day’.

In order for our kids to run stalls successfully, we need the help of our fabulous parent community! We require donations of various goods and prizes. In your children’s cohort newsletters this week (Prep, 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6 pages in the newsletter), you will find requests for donations from each class. If you are able to help out, please bring donations into your child's’ (or any relevant class you can help) classroom(s) by Tuesday, 31st of October.

We also require your assistance with running stalls on the day. Your child’s classroom teacher will provide you with a roster where you can indicate your availability.

Details will come out via Compass shortly detailing passports and event details!

We thank you in advance for your support!

Gender and Identity

3/4 Staley/Alexander have recently been exploring gender norms through literature. We described and compared the roles commonly given to male and female characters in traditional fairy tales and the roles given to male and female characters in modern children’s literature.

We also investigated how this happens in other media, such as television shows and advertisements. We thought about whether there are some things we see on TV that we try to copy or wish to copy. We also discussed how people and the media influence the gendered choices boys and men, girls and women make about what to do, what to wear, how to behave and who they should be.

SWPBS

Students were very excited to enjoy their Level 3 Whole School Reward - a Hot Dog Lunch! Our Preps, 1s and 2s lined up ready for their hot dog during Lunch with our 3s, 4s, 5s and 6s getting to celebrate at Recess. It was a wonderful time recognising all the hard work we have put into this term. I wonder what next term's reward will be?!

A special thanks to Mr Greer, Mr Lidgett, Mr Parkes, Mr Trezise, Ms Leed, Sonia, Neveen, Emma C and Mrs Orr for their help in purchasing, cooking and distributing the hot dogs to students throughout the day!

Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge

Well done to these students for going above and beyond!

Chess Club

You can almost see the strategic thoughts coming from students making their moves in the Chess Club last week!!

What a great gathering of students with a similar interest! It certainly was a full house in the Chess Club room with Mr Lidgett.

Wanted: The Pocket Dogs

The Prep Team are on the search for a few copies of The Pocket Dogs by Margaret Wild. We are having trouble locating it in stores and wondered if any one might have a copy that they no longer use at home to donate to us.
