Sienna's Insights

This week I was fortunate enough to get to talk to the year 11 Systems class! They are currently in Unit 2 of their studies, and I had the chance to talk to their teacher and some of the students to get an insight into the Systems subject!

The Year 11s are currently looking at Electro-tech where they learn about common electronic components. Additionally, they work on their own projects spending 1-2 lessons a week on what they’re interested in building.

I got to talk to their teacher Ms Baillie and do a quick interview as well!

How do you find teaching this subject?

I love it cause it’s a mix of science, physics, and hands on, as well.

What’s your favourite part of this subject?

Seeing the creativity that the students create inspires me to create as well.

And, of course I got to have a chat to a few of the students as well:

Why did you choose this for your VCE?

Zac: I chose this subject after seeing some of the projects from Year 11’s and 12’s.

Fletcher: I chose this class for VCE because I enjoy making things and enjoy doing electrical things.

Isaac:It was a prerequisite for my engineering course in university.

What inspires you within this subject to create and build?

Zac: The potential to make creative and inspiring designs .

Fletcher: I enjoy building and creating things, and seeing what my classmates create inspires me.

Isaac: Seeing the projects from previous years displayed around the room provide lots of ideas for my own projects.

Did you do other technology classes before this one to get you inspired?

Zac: Yes, I did Robotics in Year 9 and Systems in Year 10.

Fletcher: Yes, I’ve done plenty of Technology and Systems classes before this one.

Isaac: Yes, I have done almost all the other Systems and Product Design classes in previous years.

I am so excited that I got to look at all these designs and talk to these fantastic students! Keep up the great work year 11!
