The Year 9 & 10 Innovative Creations class has started the semester learning about the laser cutter and some of the design principles we can use to create laser cut products. In the workshop, they've been applying these techniques and their practical skills to design and build interlocking wooden phone stands. They've also been learning how to use Adobe Illustrator to create designs for the laser cutter, and applied this to creating their own keyrings.
8J are getting stuck into their soft toy design and production in their Textiles rotation this term. They've been working hard to cut out their designs and put them together, making use of different hand stitching techniques and a range of surface decorations, including drawing, dyeing, and using embellishments like buttons and different fabrics. Some students have even finished their first toy and are making a second! At the end of the term, their soft toys will be donated to a local charity for disadvantaged children.
Our Year 9's have been working hard in Ceramics, learning how to create pinch pots. They went a step further and made some cute ceramic birds as well .
Our students are getting to know their sewing machines and developing their knowledge of pattern making this term. Hopefully, we'll see some of their creations on the runway at this year's Art & Tech Showcase next term!
Last week, Miss Blackmore's class put their skills to the test and made Goulash! The aroma coming from B1 was mouth-watering.
Over the past five weeks, our junior students have been growing their skills in the kitchen. They have been perfecting their knife skills and last week 8I shredded up their own ham for Mini Cheese and Ham Puffs - Yum!
