Table Tennis

Sport, PE & Health

Table Tennis has never been more exciting at Wantirna College. The Intermediate boys and girls recently competed against teams from Upwey and Rowville. The competition was fierce but spirits were high and they all tried their best.

The girls team (Hailey, Yuyi, Vaidehi and Mia) made it to the Grand Final and it was one for the ages. With the scores level after all the games it went to a points countback and they just fell agonisingly short. A second place by the smallest of margins was a very commendable effort and one that they should all be proud of.

The boys stormed out of the gates with a comprehensive thrashing of Upwey A, and kept up that momentum competing against Upwey B. They comfortably got the wins and were through to the Grand Final up against our arch nemesis, Rowville. Mica come out with a serious spinning serve that caused problems all day. Jackson was a brick wall on defence and Lachy put away any shot that wasn’t perfect. Sam and Zyon showed fantastic poise and control for each point and as a result the team came away with a massive win.

Regionals is coming up for the boys so if you see them around make sure that you get around them and cheer them on as they look to continue their winning streak.
