“Reading one book is like eating one potato chip.” - Diane Duane

The Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) award winning books have been announced! Each of these books provides us with a wonderful opportunity to enjoy books written for Australian children, created by Australian authors and illustrators.

Our Holy Redeemer has been celebrating BOOK WEEK and the announcement of the winning books from the CBCA (Children's Book Council Awards) beginning on Monday, August 28 - Friday, September 1st. During this week we have been celebrating reading, books and Australian children's authors and illustrators.

A  HUGE shout out to Library leaders, Saige and Harrison, supported by our Library team, Luca, Poppy, Art, James, Ted, Hugo and Betty who rose to the challenge this week with their judging efforts, with the classroom displays supporting this year's CBCA's theme 'Read, Grow, Inspire". These wonderful students ran our BOOK Parade and interviewed all the OHR students, dressed up for our Book Week Parade. It was enlightening to discover the range of texts that students read and enjoy! Congratulations everyone, on such a fun assembly.

The author ADAM WALLACE visited our school on Wednesday, August 30 where he captivated the students with his unique style of writing and illustrating. There was lots of giggling with Adam's hilarious tales. Adam kindly gifted OHR a number of his books, which can be borrowed.

Reminder: On Thursday, August 31, students and staff are invited to bring favourite books to school, to share with their classmates.

The week will conclude on Friday, September 1 with a picnic outside

(weather permitting) where students are encouraged to bring a picnic style lunch for themselves, a picnic rug, cushions and favourite book to read as they enjoy their picnic food.
