We are learning to visually represent the structure of an information text in diagrams or graphic organisers.
VOCABULARY
Information text: A piece of non-fiction writing that gives information.
Narrative: A piece of writing that focuses on telling a story.
Structure: The parts or elements of something and how they are ordered.
Visually: Something that is related to the sense of sight.
Represent: To serve as a sign or symbol.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Read a fiction or nonfiction text with your child and ask them to identify the significant events or main ideas within the text. Get them to make predictions, ask questions and infer as they read. Ask them if their thinking has been confirmed or changed as they read.
