Message from the Assistant Principal
Dear Wangaratta High School Community,
As we approach the conclusion of a dynamic Term 3, I am thrilled to share the multitude of experiences and achievements that have coloured our school calendar. From academic accomplishments to artistic endeavours, our students and staff have truly embraced the spirit of exploration and growth. This being my first year at Wangaratta High School I am thrilled to share the many experiences that are offered to our school community.
In the realm of sports, our students displayed their speed and agility in the exhilarating 100-meter sprint. Witnessing their determination and the cheering camaraderie from fellow students showcased the unity that thrives within our school community. Our commitment to physical well-being is a testament to the holistic approach we take towards education. We wish our athletes all the best next week at the interschool athletics day. Go Wangaratta High!
Our exhilarating ski trips were a highlight, providing students with the chance to challenge themselves on the slopes and revel in the beauty of the snowy landscapes. These trips not only fostered outdoor skills but also encouraged teamwork and resilience – qualities that extend far beyond the mountains. I was privileged to attend the Year 9-12 trip and had a great experience, the skiing and the company was super.
The Elevate lectures offered to years 1-, 11 & 12 during this term enriched our students' study skills and strategies. Equipping them with effective tools for time management, note-taking, and exam preparation, these sessions exemplified our dedication to ensuring our students thrive academically. As our Year 12 students near the end of their journey we are excited to support them into their new challenges – please be reminded that our careers team and senior school team are there to support with university applications, scholarship applications, traineeships, apprenticeships and any other need moving into the close of their final year at school.
A significant event that showcased our students' global awareness was the Model United Nations excursion hosted by Beechworth High School. Witnessing our students engage in diplomacy, public speaking, and international affairs was truly inspiring. This experience broadened their horizons and reinforced the importance of collaboration on a global scale.
Our art exhibition for Year 7 – 10 students was a testament to the creativity and imagination that flourishes within our school's walls. The dedication and craftsmanship evident in each piece underscored the value of fostering artistic expression. I visited the displays and marvelled at the work, definitely some buddy artists.
Science Week ignited a spark of curiosity among our students, with interactive experiments and demonstrations that brought science to life. From chemistry to physics, our students delved into the wonders of the natural world, reminding us all of the importance of inquiry-based learning. Students from Years 7-12 led science activities at Coronation Kinda, participated in STEM activities at Galen College and had some students participate in a lecture on dark matter. We have some exciting STEM activities coming to Term 4.
The mathematics competition challenged our students' problem-solving abilities and mathematical prowess. The enthusiasm with which they embraced this challenge reflects the culture of academic excellence we strive to cultivate at Wangaratta High School.
As we approach the term break, let's reflect on the accomplishments and growth we have witnessed together. I want to express my deepest gratitude to our dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and, most importantly, our incredible students. Your efforts and contributions make our school community vibrant and inspiring.
Looking forward to Term 4, I am confident that we will continue to build upon these achievements and create even more memorable experiences. Let's work hard over the coming two weeks and remain energised, ready to tackle the challenges and seize the opportunities that lie ahead.
Thank you for being a crucial part of our school's journey. I look forward to the coming weeks and Term 4.
