International Student Program

Friday 25 August 2023

Dear Students, Teachers and Parents/Guardians,

International Student Program Phillip Island Trip

On Friday 25 August, our international students participated in an excursion to Phillip Island, with international students from our neighbour school Parkdale Secondary College. It was a great opportunity for students to learn about and experience the Australian animals and the local environment. Please see the great feedback from our students:

Dylan: This was the first time I came to this school to participate in a school excursion. I saw many animals  such as Cape Barren geese, wallaby and copperhead. I walked on the Boardwalk with Mr Yin, I saw the surface of the sea is like a sapphire, waves crashing on rocks. I have only seen sea arch in geography books in China, but I saw the real thing here. The view from the Nobbies is also spectacular. After that, the bus took us to Cowes and I ate some ice cream, bread, chocolate and cakes on the outside table and chairs with Tim, Henry, Sean, Lenny and Renzo.

Then we went to the Wildlife Park.  I saw more animals such as kangaroos, black swans, reptiles, lorikeets and echidna. I fed kangaroos for the first time in my life and they were so cute and friendly. This was the best part of  the excursion. Well, there was no worst part but I think we need to protect the ocean and prevent it from being polluted so that marine life can continue to survive. The recent incident of Japan’s nuclear-contaminated water discharge makes me very worried. I hope we can protect nature.

Maika: In the Wildlife Park one of my favourite animals  is kangaroo. I fed the kangaroos, they were cute and nice.  The best part was enjoying the views between the beach and the mountain. It helped me explore the outside world in the most honest way. I really enjoyed this trip.

Tim: I felt really amazed by the natural environments. It was really beautiful. In the zoo, we fed the kangaroo and the kangaroo's  tongue was really soft!  We saw other animals, lorikeets, echidna, and koalas, but the most interesting thing for me was the copperhead! I am usually a bit scared about  snakes, but this time I had a chance to see the  snake so close for the first time in my life.

Kumi: We went to the Boardwalk in the Nobbies. When we got on the bus, we saw a lot of animals like cape barren geese. At the Boardwalk we found a red snake. Also the sea is very beautiful. The colour is like sky blue. I took a lot of photos. We went to the beach side to have our lunch. I dropped my side dish. I thought I needed to clean the dish but the birds took all my food away.  I talked to my brother about that and he gave me his snack and orange juice. In the afternoon we went to the Phillip Island Wildlife Park. There are many animals like wallabies, kangaroos, Tasmania devils, koalas and snakes.  On the way home, I feel tired and excited  because I had experienced  many things for the first time in my life. Finally I learned a lesson: if I go to Phillip Island Wildlife Park again next time, I need to wear old shoes or dirty shoes as  there are many animals' poos on the grass!

Thank you Ms Podesser for organizing such a wonderful event!
