District Athletics
This year WHPS had 71 students in the Athletics Team selected from Years four, five and six classes.
On Thursday 24th August, our team travelled to Bill Sewart Athletics Track, East Burwood.
Students had been training hard all term in the lead up to this event and were all excited to have the chance to show how well they could perform. The weather was kind to us. Mostly sunny with a slight breeze.
Congratulations to all our students for their terrific effort on competition day. There were many students who gained places in their events, and every point they scored counted for our overall school result. Several students beat their personal best records/times from training sessions or results from last year.
You all worked hard and as a result Wheelers Hill came SECOND overall amongst our WESA district of nine schools.

3rd Place: Mount Waverley North
This year we had an amazing 33 students who won or came second in their ‘A’ events and will be competing in the Monash Waverley Division carnival at the Bill Sewart Athletics Track, East Burwood on Thursday 5th October (Week 1 of Term 4). Special congratulations and good luck to all these students.

Thanks to all the Year 4 - 6 staff for their ongoing support – both during trials and the training sessions- and Mr. Okita, Mrs Dwyer, Mrs Woon & Mrs Jansen for helping us on competition day. You all helped to make the day enjoyable and very successful for our students.
In 2023 our students successfully won the WESA Swimming and came second in both Cross Country and Athletics. A fantastic effort! Congratulations again to all our students for their hard work in all the different sporting events.
