Last Monday, 7 August the select Senior dance group Imperium XIX, performed at Wakakirri, a nationwide dance competition. We are proud to announce that they have been nominated for a National Award, and on the evening won the Sustainability and renewable Energy Environmental Story State Award as well as the following Show Awards.
Show Awards:
The boys put on a stellar performance, showcasing their talented choreography and acrobatic skills. Wakakirri Ambassador Libby Hammer said;
"A very clever and evocative story dance describing the advancements of the human race from the industrial revolution through to today. The choreography and acrobatics clearly expressed the basic mechanics of basic machinery right through to today’s fast-moving computer age, all underlined with the theme of the cogs of a clock, also hinting at the ticking away of humanity’s very existence. The simple costumes allowed for a great focus on the story, which ranged in emotions from excitement to alarm. A story dance with a powerful message and reminder of humankind’s effect on the planet."
Congratulations to all involved on their hard work and outstanding results!
