Prep
Grade 1 - working on our Talk For Writing program.
5/6 - We’ve continued to have a busy term in the 5/6 area.
LEARNING IN THE CLASSROOM
Over the last couple of weeks in the classroom, in the Year 5/6 area we’ve been focussing on problem solving during Maths lessons, creating ‘thick and thin’ questions about reading and developing original and inspiring podcasts during writing. Ask your child about their podcast if you want some insight into their interests and opinions. As the holidays are fast approaching, please ensure your child is completing their reading homework at home.
NORTH GEELONG ‘HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL’ EXCURSION
Last week we had our excursion to North Geelong Secondary College to witness an incredible ‘High School Musical’ performance, featuring some former Rollins P.S students.
Our kids really enjoyed the show and are incredibly excited about heading to high school in the near distant future.
BOOK WEEK DAY
Last Friday, our kids all dressed up for Book Week and were involved in exploring rich literature and creating dress ups from their favourite book characters. It was a fantastic day had by all and there were many wonderful dress ups, as you can see in the class photos below.
Here in the grade 3-4 area, we have been having a ball in math’s, learning multiplication and division problem solving strategies. Students have been taking advantage of the resources we have here at Rollins Primary School to learn the many different strategies that can be used to multiply and divide numbers. It has been awesome to see how engaged the students are with their learning.

Specialist Spectacular
Lunch Club - Students were recently surveyed for their feedback on a new lunch club for Term 4. The most popular idea was a movie club! Movie Club will run with Mrs Dumont on Wednesdays next term, along with some of our already popular lunch clubs:
Grade 3-6 Book Club with Kelly (Monday-Friday), Prep-2 Story-Time with Laura (Monday/Tuesday/Friday), Bird Watching with Sinead (Prep-2 on Wednesdays & 3-6 on Thursdays) and Indoor Sport with Lachie/Ben G (5/6 Monday and 3/4 Tuesday).
Thanks to the following staff who have run other fantastic clubs during Terms 2 and 3: Paul & Mrs Wynne - Chess Club, Rachael - Art Club, Miss Anna - Dance Club and Emily & Mr Krahe - Lego Club.
Lunch clubs have been a wonderful initiative for our students. The time dedicated by staff to have these programs running at lunchtime is greatly appreciated.
