Insight-Full Kids: Helping children thrive through mindfulness, emotional awareness and social connection.
September Holiday & Term 4 Program enrolments are now open. Places are limited.
We hope this email finds you well. We’re excited to announce that enrolments for Insight-Full Kids’ September School Holiday Group and Term 4 11 week Program are now open.
We understand you may have clients who could benefit from this program, and we encourage you to share this information if it feels appropriate.
Insight-Full Kids is a weekly mindfulness and resilience building group for children (6-11 years of age), who experience anxiety, have difficulty regulating their emotions, are overthinkers, or struggle to manage stress in their lives. |
We understand how difficult these experiences can be for families to navigate, and that often beneath challenging behaviours are some big, heavy feelings like sadness, shame or anxiety.
Through Insight-Full Kids, each child is supported to learn that it is okay to have these big feelings, and to find safe ways to express them, and to seek help.
Over the course of the Program, children learn about their emotions and practise skills to help them better manage their thoughts, feelings and behaviours, to:
- promote self-confidence
- build resilience
- improve self-regulation, and
- build healthy friendships.
This program is run in small groups (no more than 8 children) to ensure individual attention and support, and is adapted to meet the needs of each child. It is suitable for children who are struggling to fit in.
Based on the principles of kindness, compassion, gratitude, acceptance and non-judgment, this program is adapted to meet the needs of each child. We draw on a mix of meaningful and age-appropriate techniques to teach a range of skills for life, including:
- Nervous system regulation - through mindfulness, yoga and meditation activities
- Respectful relationship skills including: respectful communication and turn taking skills - through group and partnered activities
- Boundaries - respecting when someone else communicates a boundary (for example: if a child doesn’t want to share with the group, this boundary is respected)
- Emotional recognition - exploring feelings and the meaning within stories through reading and storytelling activities
- Emotional expression -through group discussion and paired activities.
There is also plenty of opportunity for creative activities and games that bring the fun into learning new skills.
Positive outcomes identified by parents of past participants include:
- Increased comfort and capacity to talk about their feelings
- Increased awareness of feelings, and increased ways to safely manage big feelings (like anger)
- Increased willingness to step out of their comfort zone
- Improved self-confidence
- Improved ability to self-regulate, by identifying when they need quiet time
- Feeling more connected to a community of other kids.
We understand the importance of providing children with the support they need to manage their emotions, and we believe our program can help make a real and lasting difference.
