Last Weekend Activities

On Saturday students boarded the bus for a day of ice skating at Cockburn. Once on the ice some skaters zoomed around, while others clung to the side of the walls. There was a lot of laughter especially when Residential Supervisor, Ms Strehle joined in on the fun and tried to take photos of students whilst on the ice.

After returning to the College, students put the dance program on the big screen and had a great time learning and practicing new dance routines.

Saturday evening had everyone pitching in and cooking a BBQ dinner that was enjoyed by all before sitting around the fire pit and playing some board games.

Monday saw all Year 11s head off on an excursion to Muresk and Dowerin.  What a difference it makes in boarding when you remove an entire year group.  There was far less time spent waiting to be served at mealtimes, less noise and students were out of the dining room in half the time it usually takes.

Netball

Tuesday evening our girls had their final game of netball but unfortunately it clashed with the Muresk / Dowerin excursion so many of our regulars were unavailable to play. As all good teams do, the girls were able to get enough players to compete on the night. Congratulations to all the girls who participated during the season.  Thankyou to Ms Sparks and Ms Barnden who helped with training, organisation and transport and  a great big thanks to Judith Morton who took on the coaching role for the team.

P.A.R.T.Y Program

Tuesday we were extremely lucky to have a visit from Julie who runs the Bunbury Hospital P.A.R.T.Y Program in conjunction with the Royal Perth Hospital. We were approached by the students through the Student Council and asked if we could organise the program for their year group as they had missed out last year due to COVID.

Julie was very obliging and we set things in motion, but unfortunately her partner in crime was a late withdrawal. However, she was able to get David from the Emergency Department at Harvey to come and assist her. It was an engaging and informative session that implored the students to stop and think about their actions in and around dangerous situations.

They don’t preach to students about not doing things but to at least assess and think before acting upon them. We received some very good feedback from the students.

This weekend students will be heading down to the Par 3 Golf Course in Busselton to play a round of golf which should be loads of fun.
