The Year 11 Trades Focus students attended a range of industry visits prior to the Dowerin Field Day on Wednesday.  Every Trades visit was well received and provided an excellent educational opportunity.

Mineral Resources hosted the Trades students at their facility in Kwinana. MR organised four differently-themed tours of their workshops and kindly provided lunch. We also bumped into two ex-students completing HD apprenticeships.

Construction Futures Centre is a great educational facility providing some targeted videos covering domestic and commercial construction careers. The students enjoyed the interactive displays.

Bruce Rock Engineering showed off its new CNC processing and fabrication workshop in Forrestfield. If you ever want to see a clean and efficient setup, this is it. The students were blown away by the fabrication technologies on display.

Komatsu accommodated and wooed our students with their BIG machinery. Komatsu is their own RTO and provides on-site training. If you love big machinery and a flourishing HD workshop, this is it. Komatsu offers a range of apprenticeships in plant, electrical, mechanical and electrical fitting.

The Northam AFGRI presenter was ex-2022 graduate, Jack Bryne. The students reinforced their enthusiasm for John Deere and love for sitting in tractors. Jack provided an insight into his day-to-day tasks as a mobile mechanic and is currently completing a dual trade to include HV electrical as our technology needs and field service skills evolve.
