This week in class, we have been talking about self-care and self-love. Self-care is generally connected to happiness, a topic which we explored last week. Like happiness, self-care doesn’t usually happen by accident and needs mindful attention to be a positive influence in our lives.
We discussed that when we notice a drop in a person’s self-care, it is often a sign that they are struggling to cope, and a good time to ask if they are ok or need help. With happiness, we explored the strength of each person’s personal skills that tend to contribute to happiness, and seven skills which have been identified as closely aligned with happiness.
Students were encouraged to identify skills that they would like to develop or grow and research how they would do that in their own context. We discussed that personal self-care and happiness are often expressions of the life choices we make.
A reminder also to all Year 11 parents and carers to return the signed PARTY forms for students to attend the Midland Hospital program and to give electronic permission via the Consent2Go that has been emailed out.
It’s Open Day this Friday and the Wellbeing and Student Services team will have a stall. We have lots of information, pictures and a couple of competitions. Please drop in and have a chat.
See you there. Stay safe.
