The VTAC University Entry process is now underway for all Year 12 students. Timely applications for University entry close on Thursday, 28 September 2023. To begin the process, all students applying for tertiary entry will require a USI (Unique Student Identifier) before beginning the process. It can be obtained via this link https://www.usi.gov.au/students.
In this edition I would like to share a reflection on a School-based Apprenticeship/Traineeship SBAT, that is being undertaken by Year 12 student Ashleigh McConnell over the course of her Year 12 VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) studies.
My SBAT Journey
I am a Year 12 VCE VM student and I am currently undertaking a School-based Apprenticeship/Traineeship through the Stirling Institute. I work at Watsonia Early Learning Childcare Centre two days a week and the other three days I am at school.
I am undertaking my Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education & Care while at work,
instead of doing it at a TAFE. This means that I am assessed by my trainer every two weeks whilst working on the job. This pathway has been so good for me as I am gaining experience working while studying, to really see if that's what I want to do in the future.
This has been a great way to learn and it has allowed me to obtain a promising job for next year at my current workplace.
