Book Parade
The school gym came alive with a vibrant and successful book character parade. The event exuded a joyful atmosphere. The creative prowess of the students (and their parents!) was on full display as they transformed into their favourite literary characters. It was lovely to see so many parents gathered to witness the spectacle!
Our staff also wholeheartedly embraced the event's spirit, donning their own creative outfits. The parade was a fabulous celebration of literature, creativity, and community participation.
Thank you to Mrs Puckering (The Very Noisy Bear!) for being the master of ceremonies.
CBCA Book Award Winners
The 2023 Children's Book of the Year Award winners encompass a wide array of narratives that captivate the minds of young readers, fostering their creativity.
Here is a list of the 2023 Book of the Year winners:
We have acquired titles from this year's Children's Book of the Year Award winners. Teachers have been reading and enjoying these books with their students. These books will serve as mentor texts, enriching our approach to teaching literacy by engaging students in reading and writing activities.
Kudos to the students and staff who enthusiastically participated in the paper plane making contest last week! The gym came alive with anticipation during the thrilling finals held last Friday at lunchtime. Mr McKibbin along with the STEM team (comprising Ms Owen, Mr Moore, Mr Paul, and Mrs Read) did a great job organising the event and final.
Special commendations go to all the finalists and a big congratulations to the victors: Harley L, Mason M, and Alfie G. Your efforts truly soared!
We've observed concerning behaviors among parents during school pickup. Double parking (which is illegal and dangerous), urging children to run into the street, and allowing kids to exit cars into traffic have been noted.
This poses severe risks, with potential accidents involving pedestrians, particularly children. The road clears post 3:30pm; a mere 10-minute delay could secure parking and safer pickups for students. Urgent attention is needed to prevent potential accidents.
Morning Drop off
We are noticing that students are being dropped off as early 8:30am at the school gate. They don't appear to have their parents or guardians there supervising them. It is concerning as the school grounds are not supervised until 8:45am. OSHClub is open for parents to use if they need to drop their children off earlier than 8:45am. Park Orchards OSHClub.
