Year 3 News

From Lizzie, Year 3 teacher
Writing about ourselves and others! Autobiographies, biographies and more!
This term the Grade 3s have had a flying start to writing. Not only have we written autobiographies all about ourselves but we also researched a family member and an important Australian! In three weeks we have planned, researched, drafted, edited, revised and published 3 writing pieces, isn't that incredible?
Some important people we have learnt about include Cathy Freeman, Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Eddie Mabo, Adam Goodes and not to mention all of the incredible and wonderful family and friends we interviewed at home.

House Spirit Week
We were so lucky to have the grade 6s come and host House Spirit Week with us on Tuesday the 5th of August. You won't believe it but the whole of Grade 3 played a massive game of Hide and Seek across the WHOLE SCHOOL!
The grade 6s gave us 2 minutes to hide in the best hiding place possible. Some people hid behind lockers, some people hid under tables and some people even hid underneath the bushes.
House points were awarded to people who were the last ones to be found. It was so much fun and definitely made us all feel very proud of the house colour we belong to! Can you see us hiding in the picture?
We all belong
Students created a small, symbolic puzzle piece that represents their personal commitment to the class values and agreement.
Students decorated their puzzle piece with:
· Their first name or initials
· A personal symbol that represents one of the agreement values (e.g. heart for kindness, star for effort, lightbulb for thinking, hands for helping)
· A short motto or personal commitment (e.g. “I will listen,” “Kindness starts with me,” “I stay focused”)
This final visual will serve as a daily reminder of individual contribution to a shared
learning space.
