Wellbeing

From Shaun, Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader
Dear Families
As part of Bullying No Way Week (August 11-15), NMPS is continuing to build a shared understanding of the behaviours that impact student wellbeing—particularly bullying, harassment, discrimination and violence. This factsheet provides clear, consistent definitions of these terms, drawn from the national guidance for Australian schools. These definitions help us:
- Distinguish between bullying and other types of conflict
- Recognise the role of power and repetition in bullying behaviour
- Understand when behaviour crosses into harassment, discrimination or violence
- Ensure our responses are appropriate, fair and aligned with our school’s policies (which can be found on our school’s website)
Clarity in language leads to clarity in action. By using shared definitions across our whole community, we can better support students, respond effectively to harmful behaviours, and create a culture where everyone feels safe, included and respected.
