From Georgie Junior School Science teacher
We have been very busy in the science rooms exploring all things about physics.
Prep
We have been learning all about 3D shapes. We have explored spheres, cylinders, cubes and cones. This week we did an experiment to see which type of ball would roll down the ramp the furthest; it was lots of fun. Golf balls and marbles were the winners.
Grade 1
We have been learning to describe what the 5 senses are and how they help us to learn about the world around us. Last week we used our senses to explore eating both popcorn and apples. The popcorn tasted very salty and sweet, whilst the apples were juicy and crunchy. It was lots of fun and also delicious! This week we are investigating sound, including cup telephone and exploring how sound waves are transmitted.
Grade 2
We have been learning all about how non-living things can move using contact and non-contact forces. Last week we explored electrostatic and magnetic forces. This week we explored how we can use a contact force, a push or a pull, to make teddies move across a ravine. We worked in groups to design and create a basket to get the teddies across the ravine safely.
