3-4TG: Making a splash!

Swimming Lessons

Our 3/4TG students are now in their second week of swimming lessons and are making fantastic progress with their skills in the pool. This program is a highlight of the school calendar and a clear favourite among the students! We’re especially proud of how responsible and organised they’ve been travelling to and from the pool each day—well done, 3/4TG!

I learnt how to jump in the deep end (Zahara).

Swimming is good because you get physical fitness, exercise, you gain strength and your legs get taller and stronger (Josh).

We are learning to swim on our side to learn to rest our body parts in serious situations in the water (Andi).

Swimming is a life skill. Many people have to swim when they are in danger and in the ocean. That’s why we do school swimming. Many of us now know how to swim and it will get us out of danger. I’ve moved up two groups from last year. “Anything is possible,” that’s what I’ve learned (Isla).

Exploring Celebrations in 3/4TG

This term, students in 3/4TG are diving into an exciting research project on a celebration of their choice. From cultural and religious festivals to family traditions, a wide variety of celebrations are being explored. The class has shown great enthusiasm and curiosity, engaging deeply with their topics. A few weeks ago, they chose a different celebration to research and present this to the class.

At SJV, we are committed to providing a knowledge-rich curriculum that broadens students’ global awareness and understanding of the world around them. As a final product, students will showcase their learning through a Google Slideshow, poster, or booklet. We can’t wait to see their creativity and insights shine!

I presented the celebration of Nulgu because it is a traditional celebration to bless the couple about to be married. It happened in India and we ate curry and had special drinks. (Zoe Z)

Lunar New Year is a very special and important celebration to people all around the world. It marks the beginning of a new year on the lunar solar calendar symbolising a fresh start and renewal. (Harrison)

Baptism is when a black sheep turns into a white sheep; when they get dipped into holy water which means they join the Christian family. (Alan)

I chose a wedding, as this celebration is important because I had to travel to Pakistan. It is important because it symbolises the couple's commitment and love. (Zion)

Getting Stage Ready in 3/4TG!

Excitement is building in 3/4TG as they prepare for the upcoming school production! With plenty of dance rehearsals underway, the students are buzzing with energy and enthusiasm. Costumes are ready, dance moves are being polished, and there’s lots of talk about the big night. We can't wait to see these hip-hop kangaroos show off all their hard work and talent on stage!

I love dancing and performing. I am a dance captain too! (Aria S)

I like dancing because I love moving (Sanav).

It’s really exciting to have the chance to show our wonderful dance moves and super hip-hoppy clothes; you can embrace yourself too (Jessie).

I’m a dance co-captain and I help my partner even if he’s not here. My partner is also a captain and will always make me try my best (Julian).
