Co-Principal's Report

Principal Report
Welcome to our 4th Whytalla! There are a lot of positive things on the go at school presently. Our Breakfast Club is very popular, as shown by the tasty spaghetti jaffles that are being scooped up by the students. Your child is able to get a drink of milk/milo, access cereals, fruit or a toasted jaffle which is a healthy build up to learning for the day.
Camps/Excursions
Our Year 5/6 Camp to Sovereign Hill was a hit with the students (and teachers), in Week 2. Everyone had a full day in 1800’s attire, as shown below.
Some of our Year 9s are off to the snow next week to Bogong and then up to Falls Creek, which will be a fantastic experience!
In Weeks 8 and 9, we will have the opportunity for students to attend the Operation Flinders Camp in the Flinders Ranges, 150km north of Hawker. It is an amazing experience involving leadership, resilience and teamwork. We are currently filling the spots for that. It’s for 13 –18 year olds and our staff nominate students to attend.
In Week 9, our Year 8 students have their Adelaide Camp, which is another amazing experience of activities. We join Murtoa College Year 8s (another F – 12 school), and the social connectedness of another school adds to the students' experience.
Fostering a culture of inclusiveness
At Edenhope College we strongly believe that everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect, regardless of cultural background, religious beliefs, gender, etc. That’s why we have a zero tolerance for any form of racism. This includes comments, slurs, attempted jokes or any other form of harassment. If students are found to be engaging in these behaviours there will be serious consequences including discussions with teachers, caregivers and disciplinary action. We want to ensure that our school remains a safe and welcoming environment for all.
Let’s work together to celebrate the differences that make us unique and stand up for one another when we see, hear or witness anyone challenging these values.
