From the Year Prep Classroom

Can you believe we’re already halfway through Term 3? The past fortnight has been a whirlwind of fun, learning, and memorable moments in Prep!
100 Days of Learning Celebration - We reached an exciting milestone, 100 days of learning! It was wonderful to see the students and even Mr Mullavey and Mrs Bridgeman who dressed up and fully embracing the celebrations. A huge thank you to Jennika in the canteen for the delicious 100-day cake, which was an absolute hit with both students and teachers. The day was packed with engaging activities, and by home time, we were all ready for a rest!
Learning Conversations Term 3 is all about fostering independence, resilience, and growth. We’re looking forward to sharing your child’s progress, both their strengths and the areas we’re working on together during our learning conversations.
· Interviews for Mrs Seal and Mrs Mestrom are happening this week.
· Mrs Goldman’s interviews will take place next week, alongside most of the school.
Book Week Parade – Friday 29th August Get ready for more dress-up fun! Our Annual Book Week Parade is coming up next Friday, 29th August at 9am on the basketball court. We’d love to see families join us to cheer on our little book characters as they parade proudly in costume.
Literacy Learning In literacy, students have been working hard on their weekend recounts using colourful semantics to include the who, what, where, when, and why. We’ve also been introducing conjunctions such as and, because, but, and so. It’s been fantastic to see the growing independence in their writing; we’re especially impressed by their use of tricky words and descriptive language. Go Preps!
Author Visit – Andrew McDonald We were thrilled to welcome author Andrew McDonald for an exciting visit! The children loved hearing about his pigeon books and creating their own pigeon drawings. Andrew
inspired us all with his message that creativity and storytelling can begin at any age, just like it did for him.
Maths – Measurement Magic In Maths, we’ve been diving into Measurement, focusing on length, mass, and capacity. Over the coming weeks, students will take part in lots of hands-on activities to build their understanding in these key areas. Get ready for some measuring fun!
Religion:
Last Friday, we joined the college students to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption. It was a lovely mass filled with music and reflection, and our students participated with great enthusiasm. In the coming weeks, we’ll explore how we can care for God’s World, including nature walks and discussions about sustainability and stewardship.
