From the Year 4 Classroom

Lots of events are making Term 3 fly by very quickly!!! It’s great to see the warm weather starting to appear, which means hats are back!!! We are continually impressed by the fantastic behaviour, kindness and respect the Year 4’s are continually displaying each day. Over the last two weeks we have been busy making Diorama's in Art depicting scenes from our class novel ‘Storm Boy’, we had a visit from an author Andrew McDonald, participated in Anti-Bullying Week, and attended Mass for the Feast of the Assumption.
Congratulations to Farley Simmons who came ‘runner up’ in the Lions Speaking Club Competition. We are so proud of you!!!!!
Please remember to bring in something ‘kitchen’ theme for our R U OK Day Breakfast Raffle. Also, just a reminder that all students MUST be wearing ALL BLACK school shoes and plain white socks. If this is not possible, a note needs to be sent to the classroom teacher. We appreciate your support with this matter.
In Reading, we have begun our new novel called ‘The Wild Robot.’ It’s a unique blend of science fiction and nature adventure, and it explores themes like survival, adaptation, empathy, and what it means to be alive.

In Writing, we completed our Information Report on the Coorong and wrote an Information Report on a Pelican to show what we have learnt.
In Inquiry, we have been learning about how a bill becomes a law in the Federal Parliament. We explored the roles of the House of Representatives and the Senate, and how each contributes to the law-making process.
In Religion, we have continued deepening our understanding around the message the Parable of the Sower teaches us, putting our own “modern twist” on it. We attended Parish Mass a fortnight ago on the Feast Day of Mary MacKillop, the first Australian saint. The parishioners were impressed with how much we knew about this special lady and Mr.Mullavey received some feedback about how exceptional our student's behaviour was. Go Year 4!!!
From Mr. Mullavey- “Congratulations again to our Yr4 cohort. At mass on Sunday, I had another 2 parishioners come up to me to say how reverent our students were at Friday’s mass for Mary MacKillop and how impressed they were by the responses they gave to the questions Fr Junjun asked.” – well done!!
