Team Leaders Message

Term 3
It’s been a busy and exciting term with plenty of opportunities for our students to shine. We’ve enjoyed PJ Day, Fit for Life, STEAM programs and many creative classroom-based experiences. Our athletes have been outstanding, competing proudly in both local and regional events. A big thank you to Riley and Gary for organising our Concord Football team – the boys have represented us with pride.
In class-based social competitions, students have been focusing on what it means to be a good teammate, while our Earn and Learn program has continued to grow. Students have been “paid” for their learning, managing their own bills (like chair and locker rent), receiving fines for not completing classroom responsibilities, and earning bonuses for excellent effort. This will all lead into our exciting Market Day. Each class will have a market stall and sell their services or products on the last Thursday of the term.
In Discovery, we have been learning about how Animals and Plants survive in Harsh Environments. Did you know that Antarctica is a desert? In fact, it is the largest cold desert in the world – it’s technically drier than the Sahara. The fennec fox has enormous ears that act like air conditioners, helping it keep cool. Camels can drink up to 40 litres of water in one go – like guzzling a whole bathtub! The Saguaro cactus can grow taller than a two-storey house and live for 200 years.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Victorian State School Spectacular crew, who are ready to sparkle on stage – we wish them all the best. They have worked so hard to perfect their routines and I know they will love the experience! Our students have shown resilience and flexibility as play spaces have shifted this term, creating more room for our Year 7/8 students to enjoy.
Looking ahead, we are preparing for our Surf Camp in Week 1 next term and are already planning our Year 9/10 Showcase – save the date: December 2!
