Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we are focusing on the character strength 'Perseverance', the ability to keep going with steady effort, even when challenges arise or progress feels slow.
Perseverance is beautifully illustrated in the Gospel, in many accounts we learn that staying determined in what we do and in our prayers can make a real difference.
One inspiring example comes from the Gospel of Luke (18:1-8), in the story of the Persistent Widow. In this parable, Jesus tells of a widow who continually seeks justice from an unjust judge. Although the judge initially refuses to help her, she does not give up. She keeps returning, asking again and again until the judge finally grants her request, not because he fears God or cares about justice, but to stop her persistence.
Jesus uses this story to teach us an important lesson: if even an unjust judge will respond to perseverance, how much more will God, who is loving and just, listen to our prayers and welcome our persistent faith?
This week, as we focus on perseverance, let’s remember the Persistent Widow’s example. By staying determined in our efforts and prayers, even when it’s hard, we grow stronger and show our trust in God’s support.
Let’s continue to encourage one another to keep going, knowing that God loves us and hears our prayers. With faith and perseverance, we can face any challenge and grow stronger together in His love.
Many Blessings,
Nancy Kubti
