A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

ClubGrants

We submitted an application through the ClubGrants program to assist us with purchasing resources for STEM in the school. I am pleased to report that we have been successful and Merrylands RSL Club has given us $8000 towards the purchase of STEM equipment.

Homework Meeting

I would like to sincerely thank all those who attended our CAFE meetings this week to begin the important process of developing a new school Homework Policy. Over the three sessions we had over sixty families represented. Your presence and contributions were invaluable and we are grateful for the time you took to share your perspectives and ideas.

This initiative stems directly from feedback provided through the recent Tell Them From Me (TTFM) parent survey. It is clear that homework is a significant area of interest for our community and together, we now have the opportunity to shape a policy that reflects the needs of both students and families.

Next Steps

The development of the new Homework Policy will continue through a collaborative process:

  • Parent Feedback: The thoughtful insights gathered during our CAFE meetings will guide the direction of our discussions.
  • Staff Perspectives: We will now form a Homework Committee, comprised of staff, to review parent feedback alongside input from teachers.
  • Shared Approach: This committee will ensure we create a consistent, balanced and effective policy that supports student learning and wellbeing.

Our goal is for the new Homework Policy to be finalised and introduced in 2026. Updates will be provided through the newsletter.

I would also like to extend my gratitude to our leadership team and staff, who worked hard in preparing the meeting and in partnering closely with parents to ensure that the voices of our community are reflected in this important policy.

Kind regards,

Grace Carlo-Stella
