Wellbeing News

This week we are acknowledging “Anti-Bullying Week in Australia for 2025”, also known as Bullying No Way Week. Being held from August 11-15 the theme for the week is "Be Bold. Be Kind. Speak Up.". This national initiative aims to unite schools, communities, and organisations in the fight against bullying.

Several students from year 10 took the opportunity to attend a virtual classroom lesson created by Kids Helpline. The lesson was well received by the students and presented the opportunity to clarify some of the common myths associated with bullying. Although the students already had knowledge regarding the subject, they still found the activity a positive learning experience.

“The workshop today was very informative and rehashed my knowledge around bullying”.

“It was so educational! I loved it. it helped me understand what bullying really is, and understand what places are available to use or access for support”

The message also reaffirmed that there are many ways to be supportive or deal with bullying in a positive, proactive manner. Above all, the message was a reminder that you are not alone, and there is support available. Young people have not only the support of their family but also, they are able to speak to a teacher, their pastoral leader or can contact any of the wellbeing staff if they have experienced or witnessed bullying. This would also be recommended if, as a parent, you had concerns for your child. Students were also provided with additional contacts including~

Many of the students who attended have expressed an interest to volunteer to be part of the Year 11 Wellbeing Team in 2026 and they already have some fantastic ideas that they would like to implement within the school and therefore contribute to supporting and improving the wellbeing of the MCC school community.  It is very encouraging to see such enthusiasm and commitment from young people who wish to be part of creating change and continue striving for better outcomes for wellbeing and those impacted by mental ill health.

We are looking for donations in a wide range of genres and reading ability and in general good condition please. The donations will be distributed to local services.

Finally, next week is a significant date in the fight against, and of support for those touched by cancer.

Please keep those impacted, their families and the medical professionals and allied health services who are at the front line in the fight against cancer in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to provide support and hope for all.
