From the Principal

Last Friday we celebrated our Book Week Dress Up Day!!! It was amazing to see the effort put in by the students and staff at our school. Big thanks to Mrs George who ran the parade and worked with the Year 6 students to announce the books that won awards this year. Also special note to Mrs Norris who stocked our school library with all of this years books and resources.
On Tuesday staff and students continued Book Week celebrations with a visit from oral storyteller, Anna Manuel. The students loved listening to and engaging with her funny and interactive stories.
Just a reminder for the community, I will be on leave from close of business on Friday 29th of August. I will be back at school for the start of Term 4, Ms Danielle George will be Acting Principal in my absence. She will be well supported by our school leadership team (Marcia Janky, Belinda Saville and Donna Anderton). I have a wonderful opportunity to head over to Italy with a group of Principal's from the Outer East Network. It is sure to be an enriching experience and I look forward to sharing highlights with everyone on my return.
Congratulations:
A big congrats to Pascale, who became a big sister last week. Baby Francesca (Frankie) is finally here, and is as cute as a button. Well done to Bec, Dave and Darcy also.
Well done!
Well done to Payton (Yr 5) and her Belgrave South team mates as they won the Premiership on the weekend. They went through the season undefeated. An amazing effort.
Footpath out the front:
It is nice to see the footpath out the front of the school has now been repaired by the council. After some back and forth and disagreements over timeframes, it is nice to have their support to get this done for the safety of our students and staff.
District Athletics:
District Athletics will be held on Thursday, 4th of September. Information was sent out via Operoo early this week. If you have any questions about the running of the day, please email Jeanette Wicks (jwicks@smbelgrave.catholic.edu.au)
Our Thoughts and Prayers:
As a faith community, we send our thoughts and prayers to the Victoria Police family in relation to the tragic events that took place earlier this week. On Wednesday I visited the Belgrave Police Station and passed on my respects and thanked the serving members for all they do for our community.
Father's Day Stall:
The date for the Father's Day stall has been set for Friday, 5th of September. Students will be given the chance to purchase gifts from the stall. Generally children will not need to bring anymore than $10 in a ziplock bag or envelope with their name clearly marked.
