Foundation Learning Community

We have had a wonderful day celebrating 100 Days of School. The children really acted the part! We had a lot of fun playing First to 100 in Maths and thinking of how we would spend $100. We came up with 100 reasons we love school and did lots of other fun things throughout the day.

In Class

During Maths we have finished a Unit on Addition and Subtraction and are now spending a few weeks on informally measuring length, mass and capacity.

In Literacy we are coming to the end of the alphabet and have started learning ‘digraphs’ (Ask your child ‘What is a digraph?’) Hopefully they will be able to tell you that it is when two letters make one sound. So far we have looked at sh, ch, ee, ll, zz, ff, ss and have discussed ‘q’ always being followed by a ‘u’.

Book Week

Book Week Dress Up Day will be celebrated  on Wednesday August 20th.

Students can come dressed up as a character from their favourite book.

Maggie Mouse’s Birthday Suprise!

It’s Maggie Mouse’s Birthday and all her friends want to hold a surprise party for her on Thursday September 11th.

To celebrate learning all our letters, students can come to school dressed as one of our letter characters. We hope you can get some inspiration from the key rings in your child’s reading folder. We kindly ask that each child please bring in a small plate of party food to share.
