Junior School Principal Report

It was wonderful to get out to Camp last week, the purpose of the camp is around building relationships between students, but also to build on setting goals and resilience. It was a pleasure to see students working towards stretch targets on the activities. A stretch activity for some students is climbing the ladder, for others it was going all the way to the top of the giant swing.
A huge thanks must go to Daniel Cole for his organisation and leadership on the camp. As always, he ensured the students had the best possible camp.
Prior to camp the students were involved in the big sister and man cave experience. The students used this time to open up about themselves and shared some really personal experiences with the group. It was great to hear the feedback from students that suggested the day was valuable and set some really high expectations.
The school received its data from the survey that students filled in late last term. The data is really positive and has again improved from the high base of 2024. Some big improvements in the space of Stimulated Learning (+16% on State from Yrs 7-9), Effective Teaching time (+10% on State from Yrs 7-9) and Sense of Connectedness (+16% on State from Yrs 7-9). We look forward to sharing more data in the coming newsletter articles.
The process has finished for 2026 subjects in all year levels. We are now working in the background to use the student selections to create a blocking system that will allow all students the best possible scenario. We will endeavour to have subjects communicated to students by week 2 of next term.
I got to see a sneak peak of Oliver! as it was performed on Wednesday for our friends at Chirnside Views and our local primary schools. It was an absolute buzz in the theatre and the feedback from the residents and Primary Schools were that it's a show not to be missed. Make sure you get along to support tonight or Saturday night.
Please read the report from Mr Given although I also had the pleasure of attending Warrandyte Gardens to see 9B students interacting with the residents. There were plenty of games and even a bit of dancing at the end. Thanks to all of the students involved, the report from the lifestyle coordinator is that they are already counting down the days until next week.
