From The Team
Another two very busy weeks have flown by!
Our students have been working hard on their Explanation writing about the chicken life cycle. They proudly presented their amazing work at assembly, and our feathered friends think they are absolute superstars with all the attention they have received!
We have also been exploring our new approach to literacy, which combines reading and writing into a single daily literacy block. It has been fantastic to see how well the students have adapted to this new way of learning. As part of this, they have been studying the novel Brindabella, engaging in focused grammar lessons, and continuing to practise their handwriting.
In Mathematics, we have been exploring the concept of space, with a particular focus on mapping. Students have been creating their own maps using both drawing and digital tools, while investigating key terms such as grid points, scale and key/legend, as well as examining a variety of map examples. The 3/4s have also enjoyed making their own compasses and experimenting with tessellating shapes.
Alongside all this learning, we have celebrated Book Week with a parade and an amazing incursion, have explored healthy eating by making rainbow wraps, and taken part in an exciting basketball clinic with the South East Melbourne Phoenix.
It has certainly been a fun and exciting fortnight, and we are so proud of the enthusiasm and effort our students continue to show across all areas of their learning.
Please be sure to check out our photos sharing some of the highlights from this past fortnight.
Lastly, a future date for your diaries: on the 14th, 21st, 28th October and 11th November, from 3.30-4.30pm, Scoresby Primary School will be holding a FREE Cricket Blast for girls. Further details are below and, if interested, you will need to register using the QR code on the attached flyer.

What We Are Learning
Reminders
Reading Logs: These are due back at school each Friday. Daily reading is essential for your child’s development. Please help by reminding them regularly.
Homework: Homework is due every second Friday. This term, we ask for your support in encouraging your child to complete and return their homework by the due date. The tasks are designed to reinforce skills taught in class and help students retain new knowledge.
Brain Food and Water: A gentle reminder to encourage your child to bring a small piece of fruit or vegetables for brain food each day, along with a labelled water bottle.
Design Learning: We will shortly be starting our Design Learning and would love donations of cardboard boxes, tubes and other clean recyclable materials to help bring our creations to life.
Try This...
Try making a healthy rainbow wrap at home for your family and explain how you can create a rainbow by using a variety of colorful vegetables and other fillings. Can you find some other rainbow foods that we didn’t use? We would love to hear about your discoveries and see your colorful creations!
