From The Team
Our Foundation students have had a busy and exciting time over the last 2 weeks! They recently enjoyed a Responsible Pet Ownership session, where they learned how to safely care for and interact with animals, especially dogs. The Phoenix Basketball incursion was also a big hit, with lots of smiles and active participation.
Students have also been building reading fluency with the Year 1s and 2s, practising their skills together and gaining confidence. They loved working with their buddies to read stories and even made their own colourful bookmarks.
One of the highlights was our Book Week Parade, where everyone proudly dressed up as their favourite book character and celebrated the joy of reading.
It’s been a wonderful two weeks of learning, fun and community!

- Children retell using ordinal words.
Mystery Bag 🎁
- Put objects in a row (toys, pencils, balls).
- Ask your child to close their eyes. Hide one object
- Ask: “Which one is missing from the 5th place?”
Responsible Pet Ownership
We were very excited to welcome Mel and her friendly Cocker Spaniel x Golden Retriever, Henry, to our classroom for the Responsible Pet Education Program incursion. Students loved meeting Henry, who was gentle and calm, and learning how to stay safe around animals.
The program focused on important messages about dog safety, including:
when dogs should be left alone
things we should not do to dogs
how to tell if a dog is happy, frightened or angry
the safe way to approach and greet a dog
what to do if approached by an unknown or aggressive dog
This was a valuable and practical learning experience for our students, giving them knowledge and strategies they can use in everyday life to help keep themselves and animals safe.
Phoenix Basketball Clinic
On Monday, two players from the South-East Melbourne Phoenix Basketball Club ran a clinic for the F-2 students. They taught the students different basketball skills and played fun games with them.
Building Reading Fluency with the Year 1/2s
Our Foundation and Year 1/2 students had a wonderful time buddying up for partner reading on the Chromebooks, exploring all the fun and exciting stories on EPIC!
Book Week Parade
It was fantastic to see our Foundation students join in the fun and excitement of Book Week Dress-Up Day. They enjoyed participating in the whole-school parade and showing off their costumes.
