Book Week

Happy Book Week everyone! We are excited to be celebrating Book Week in the week ahead.

The 2025 theme is Book an Adventure, to highlight how books can allow us to set off on adventures through time, lands and imagination. Young readers can embark on fantastical journeys and we hope that a celebration of books will inspire them to travel through the worlds that books open up.

At St Louis' we have a number of different events and activities planned as follows -

Book Week Dress Up Day and Parade - Wednesday August 20 at 9am on the basketball court for all students in Prep to Year 6.  Families are most welcome to join us. This has been a fabulous event in previous years and we can't wait to see what our students and families come up with this year.  There are plenty of simple costume ideas you might like to consider and lots of DIY options detailed online.

St Louis Writing Competition - open to all students and entries are due by August 27. See details on the following page of the newsletter.

Online Author and Illustrator sessions - each level across the school will engage in an online session with an author or illustrator. This is a great opportunity to hear about the process of producing a story or book and to learn from experts.

Our Prep and Year 1 students engaged in a session with Matt Cosgrove on Wednesday, author of the Macca Alpacca books, and the feedback was fantastic.  See below some of Year 1 students having a go at being illustrators.

A to Z Scavenger Hunt - a series of  book characters are hidden around the school and classes will have the opportunity to engage in a scavenger hunt to find them all.  For an added challenge students are asked to name the character and even identify the book they are from.

Emoji Book Title Puzzler - There will be an Emoji Book Title Puzzler for classes to try and solve. Can you figure out the first one?
