YEAR 7
Starting Well

Head of Year 7
We ask parents to bring their child's diary and timetable to the Year 7 Welcome Evening on Thursday, 12 February. This will be helpful when speaking with teachers during the evening. We look forward to seeing you there!
Year 7 students continue to impress as they settle into the College routine. This week, we came together as a cohort for the Year 7 Formation Day. This event enlightens students about the life of 'Mary' and how she guides and inspires our actions and interactions here at the College. Students also participated in a session on the 24 personal character strengths. All students were asked to identify their top five strengths, and I invite you to consider your child's character strengths and how these will support their learning and development at St Mary's.
On the first day of school, students were issued textbooks for Mathematics and Humanities. Both resources are available in online or PDF formats, allowing students to access them at home when completing homework. Textbooks are a vital resource for students, and it is important that they are kept in good condition by those who use them. If textbooks are returned at the end of the year in poor condition, families will be responsible for the replacement cost.
As we build independence in your child, the process for understanding the daily comings and goings at the College are communicated to the students through the ‘Daily Notices’ that are read out in Pastoral Group each morning.
These notices include any relevant room changes for the day, and information about the wide range of extra-curricular activities.
Pastoral Mentors will support students in staying informed about what is happening and will have them note anything relevant in their Student Diary. Students can access the notices at any time through the Student Portal.
Due to the Welcome Mass, Tuesday Week A will swap with Wednesday Week A (Periods 1 & 2 only).

It has been a busy start to the 2026 sporting year at St Mary’s.
My name is Mrs Tanya Draheim, and I am pleased to introduce myself as the new Sports Operations Manager at the College. I am delighted to be joining the St Mary’s community and its dedicated sports team. I look forward to getting to know our students and working alongside them and our staff to provide high-quality sporting programs that support participation, skill development, and personal growth. I am committed to ensuring all students have the opportunity to develop their abilities and reach their full potential through sport.
Students are encouraged to regularly check the noticeboard and the CollegeBulletin for information about upcoming events and important updates. Should you or your child have any questions regarding sporting activities, trials, or events, please feel free to contact me at any time. I look forward to working closely with our families to provide a positive and rewarding sporting experience for all students.
