Year 3 News

From Lizzie, Year 3 teacher
A Superb Semester!
The Grade Three teachers would like to take this opportunity to thank, and congratulate, all of the Year 3 students on a wonderful year. We have loved teaching you and hold onto so many memorable moments from this year. It has been action packed and fun filled. We went to the Melbourne Museum, we had professional authors visit, we went on Y3 Camp, we enjoyed cooking, gardening, Book Week, swimming and more. We couldn't be prouder of the students and we wish you all the best as you move to Grade Four!
Here are some reflections of the past few months:

This year was an exciting and busy year. Here are some of the incredible things we did this year:
Firstly, camp. It was so fun. We had so many cool activities planned for us. My favourite camp activity was the flying fox. We also had cross country which I enjoyed. Another highlight from this year was Book Week. Book Week was great because everybody dressed up. Some people even made their own costumes! Out of all of the events this year I think camp was the most popular. Year 3 was a fantastic year!

At swimming we were put into groups red orange, yellow, green and blue. We were taught how to do breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle, backstroke and more! In camp, it was the most chaotic, unhinged place of my life. IT WAS AWESOME!!! We did archery, zip line and a scavenger hunt in the river (which I fell in)!

In semester 2, the year 3s had lots of fun cooking, camping and swimming in the pool. We had transition day and found out our 2026 classes! In cooking, we made spring rolls, muffins, pumpkin soup with garlic bread and more. At camp it was really fun and a bit nerve wracking. We got to go on a flying fox, eat with friends and sleep in cabins with our friends! During swimming it was fun but cold. Also there were groups, and the green and blue groups got timed! This semester was really fun overall and we can't wait for Grade 4!
In term 4 reading, we did a play. We played a scene and different characters. Every year 3 class did different plays. 3C did The Dentist, the Hungry Caterpillar, the Lion Trainer and King of the World. In writing, we have been doing letters to our families or to teachers or to specialists.
In Maths, we have been doing different graphs. It's been a really fun week doing different graphs. We also did capacity and for the activity we did magic (we had to make magic potions!) We also did maps of Theme Parks for area and perimeter. In Auslan we did other peoples board games and we had so much fun. In science we did some experiments with coke (no sugar) and sprite and mentos.
