Library News

Welcome to the first Library news for 2026. I like to think the Library is a special place where students can come to read, relax and rejuvenate! Each week we share great stories with our students and encourage what will hopefully be a lifelong love of reading. Primary classes attend a library lesson each week, focusing on literature appreciation (reading great books) and information literacy (how to find and use information). Children can also borrow books to read for pleasure at home.
While secondary students no longer have a library lesson each week, they are encouraged to visit during their break times when they are welcome to borrow books.
What is there to do in the Library?
Students are welcome in the Library during break times. We always encourage a love of reading! But while in the space, students can also play:
Lego Lounge
Giant Jenga
Board Games
Chess
Brain Teasers
Art and Craft
and more!!
Library Bags
Each child needs a library bag for their library lesson with their name marked on their bag. It’s important that all students (K-6) have a library bag as they protect books in their school bag from being damaged and any accidental spills. We love to see homemade bags, store bought bags, or even plastic bags; anything that protects books is great!
What is it?
Scholastic Book Club is exclusively school-based and offers teachers and parents an easy way to purchase the best children's books at low prices. There is a Book Club for every grade, from preschool through to junior high. In each issue of the Scholastic Book Club student catalogue, your child will find a terrific selection of new and noteworthy fiction, classics, award-winning titles, perennial favourites, reference and sports books and more.
The Book Club LOOP platform for parents allows you to pay by credit card. Your child’s order is submitted directly to the school safe and sound, and the books will be delivered to class. You can place your child’s order at scholastic.com.au/LOOP or use the LOOP app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
How does it work?
1. Twice each term, teachers distribute the Book Club catalogues to their students.
2. Students take the flyers home to select books, software or other items with their parents.
3. Students use LOOP or return order forms and payments to the school.
4. The order is placed with Scholastic Australia.
5. Within three weeks, the box of books arrives in your child's classroom.
When your child gets to choose their very own books, reading becomes a joy and an adventure. That excitement can carry over into a lifelong love of reading. Also, the earlier students become independent readers, the more likely they are to succeed in school.
